Artists donate talents to raise funds for Church of Our Savior Seven member of the Clayton County Artists donated their talents to raise money for the Church of Our Savior in Clermont on Saturday, June 17. The artists painted whimsical paintings there were auctioned off to provide funds to add restrooms to the 139 year old church. Marilyn and the late Samuel Curnow of Postville are members of the church. Francis Vinton had this church and three others built in honor of his three children. Church of Our Savior was built in 1867, and consecrated in 1870 by Bishop Lee. It was built from a local limestone, and remains a beautiful addition to Clermont. Over $150. was were raised in the silent auction. All the guests left smiling after making bids on the clever and whimsical artwork. Thirty0-three other pieces of fine art were on display, covering a wide variety of subjects and styles. Participants in the show included Gloria Kiburz from Strawberry Point, Ethelyn Berns and Lynn Wachter from Monona, Marilyn Curnow of Postville, Dolores Buchheit from St. Lucas, Patricia Peck and Laura Palumbo of Gothenburg. The club’s next art show will be on the fourth of July at the Garnavillo Museum Annex building, across the street from the park. The community is invited to come and enjoy the wide variety of fine art produced by Clayton County artists. All art is guaranteed to be made in the U. S.
