   Welcome BUCHHEIT Family researchers!

There are so many ways to use this website!

Disclaimer: Although every effort has been made to ensure that the information in this database is accurate, please keep in mind that mistakes do happen. If you come across something that is incorrect and you are able to provide sources to correct the mistake, please *PLEASE* contact the Webmaster so the correction can be made.

Left Hand Column:

The Left Hand Column contains a list of all of the document types in the database. If you would like to view all of the documents within a particular category (regardless of the branch it is related to), then click on that category for a list of all documents available.

If you click on the Census Records category, you can sort the resulting list by clicking on the header column. For example, if you would like to sort the table by year, click on the header for the year column and the resulting page will display the census records in order by year, then by state, county and city.

There are four categories requesting help from researchers and volunteers. They are "Census - HELP?", "Obituary - HELP?", "News - HELP?" and "Pictures - HELP?". If you are familiar with the documents found in these categories and can help place them into a branch of the BUCHHEIT family, please send an email to the Webmaster so the information can be added to the database.

Right Hand Column:

  • Search:
Enter the name of the person you are researching. If you know both names, enter each in the appropriate text box and click on the Search button. If you are not sure of the exact name, you can experiment with the spelling or spell out part of the name (ex: not sure if Phillip has one "L" or two? Enter "Phil" in the first name box [with out the quotes] and both Philip & Phillip will be listed in the results box.)

You can search by last name alone or first name alone as well.

Please keep in mind that you cannot search on a woman's married name. You can search on her maiden name and her married name will be listed in the results.

After you enter your name and click on the Search button, you will receive a page with a listing of all names in the database that match your search query. You will need to scroll through the resulting list and locate your ancestor based on his/her birth & death dates and/or spouse's name. When you locate your ancestor, click on the name to view all documents in which that person's name is listed.

  • Name Lists:
When you click on the "First Name List" link, the resulting page will list every first name found in the database. When you find a first name in the list that matches your ancestor's name, you can click on it to get a list of all people in the database with that first name. You can use this list if you are not sure of the spelling of the first name and you'll have a better chance of finding who you are looking for. Please Note: The only names in this database are those which appear in one of the online documents. Just because an ancestor's name does not appears in this database does not mean he/she didn't exist - only that there are no documents in this database with their name in it.

When you click on the "Last Name List" link, the resulting page will list every surname found in the database. When you find a surname in the list that matches your ancestor's surname, you can click on it to get a list of all people in the database with that surname. Because there are so many variations in the spelling the BUCHHEIT name, you can use this list if you are not sure of the spelling of the surname and you'll have a better chance of finding who you are looking for. Please Note: The only names in this database are those which appear in one of the online documents. Just because an ancestor's name does not appears in this database does not mean he/she didn't exist - only that there are no documents in this database with their name in it.

When you click on the Surname Variations link, you will receive a list of all of the different variations of the spelling of the BUCHHEIT name.

  • Resources:

These sections are in need of help from researchers and volunteers. If you do, please forward that information to the Webmaster so it can be added to this website.

Libraries: Lists libraries that have Buchheit family member information located there.
